Description

This album includes 17 Latvian groups who use Latvian traditional music elements – melodies, texts or instruments – to create their own music. This CD includes groups like “Laiksne”, “Kokle”, “Auļi”, “Rīsa Zvejnieki”, “Skyforger”, “Dzelzs Vilks”, “Iļģi” and others. Special media attention was payed to the fact that the then President of Latvia Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga who is an active folklorist and academic in folklore research, recorded a song specially for this album.
