The folk group Baļķi sing Latvian folk songs accompanied by the guitar, base etc. The group met in 2000 in Liepāja, a musical city at the Western coast of Latvia. Baļķi emphasise their roots in Liepāja and state: “We have a secret – our soul is like a bird. We can fly in the folk song. Wherever we are. The sound of the folk song makes the soul resound and the flight starts, from the ancient times through the present into the future. Inside. Home. Together.”
