Description

Patina consists of a fusion of ancient Latgalian singing (bolsi) and free jazz. Patina’s mission is to revive this particular style of singing. This endeavour – undertaken by the group leader Biruta Ozoliņa – requires a special understanding, which only comes with meticulous research and study of various archived authentic recordings.

Finally, “patina” is that which gives ancient objects their historical value. Folk music deserves similar regard.
