Description
Skutelnieki is a regional word from Koknese for the processions of masked people that went from house to house at Meteņi (a traditional Latvian festival in February), bringing blessings and joy to the inhabitants. They played music, livened things up, roused and encouraged people to get up and move.
These songs, song-games and dances were recorded already in 2008 – most of the songs are from the Koknese area, although some are from further afield.
