Description
The poet Broņislava Martuževa (1924-2012) is a unique phenomenon in Latvian cultural history.
This CD was recorded at the “Dārziņi” house on 10 March 2004, and gives an opportunity to further explore the multy-layered personality and life wisdom of Martuževa, which are echoed in her poems, songs and conversations. These conversations are joined by Martuževa’s sister, Magdalēna, who is paralysed and has been bedridden for 14 years, but nevertheless maintains a remarkable life energy.
The recording is also a topical reminder of the true Latvian history, which helps one to understand the tenacity required for an oppressed people to survive in their own land after the invasion of Russian tanks in 1940. The CD contains a recording of the poet’s heartbeat listening to its rhythm, you can hear the pulse of Latvia.
