Description

Traditional yarn dyeing with natural plants is sung about in Latvian folk songs mainly in association with the preparation of dowries. These songs mention specific plants as well as techniques that were used for dyeing and mordanting. For this CD the Latvian folklore group Savieši has gathered songs about this topic from various regions of Latvia.

The book contains descriptions about the plants, colours and their meaning, as well as dyeing recipies from historical publications.
