Jēkabs Zariņš is a talented kokle player and improviser. He lived in London, Great Britain, where he taught to young Latvian expatriates this traditional string instrument as well as leads a kokle-improvising group “Kokļu Zapte”. Currently he lives in Spain. The instrument kokle enjoys a growing revival nowadays in different parts of the world and not only among Latvians, mainly because of particularly talented and charismatic players of this old, meditative string instrument.
