We can thus assume that nature played a significant role in and influenced the form, stylistics, manner of singing and other elements of this musical tradition.<\/p>\n<p>Many written sources describe the Latvian tradition of singing outdoors in nature, but they lack audio documentation. It is for this reason that Sauc\u0113jas decided to develop a project that explored this musical tradition from both the theoretical and practical aspect and also made audio ecordings of songs sung outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>The group relied on Latvian folk song texts (caled dainas) about singing as a significant source of information for the study.
