For this reason the main repertoire of \u201cVilcenes\u201d consists of the songs of warroir\u2019s wifes and brides, which are some of the oldest songs in Latvian folklore.A great flourishing of ethnic culture took place during the 10th<\/sup>-13th<\/sup>\u00a0centuries. During this time certain singing traditions took root, and many of these traditions have remained relatively unchanged to this day. This period in history has inspired the group\u2019s creative research, focusing on the reconstruction of archaeological materials and making their own costumes using historical methods. Among the members are masters of ancient Latvian textile techniques: weaving, card weaving, ornament sewing, lace making, basketry, needle wickerwork.The women\u2019s ensemble \u201cVilcenes\u201d has sung at many culture centres and schools across Latvia. \u201cVilcenes\u201d have also performed at the International Folklore Festival \u201cBaltica\u201d and Latvian song festivals, as well as abroad in Lithuania, France, Germany and Georgia. <\/p>
