The sixth album by the Latvian folklore group \u201cLaiksne\u201d \u201cKo zinu gaid\u012bt<\/a>\u201d thirteen folksongs about the lifespan of women, beginning with being born, growing up, youth and preparation for marriage.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKo zinu gaid\u012bt?\u201d \u2013 \u201cWhat should I await?\u201d \u2013 is in between the known and the unknown. Life would be boring, if we knew everything beforehand,\u201d this is what the members of the group say. \u201cWe have been cradeling this new album for three whole years, while looking for the songs in field-research archives, scriptures and among friends. The sound of \u201cLaiksne\u201d is created by all the group members together \u2013 it is created with a bright smile, to be listened to lightly!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album was recorded in studio  \u201cGEM plus\u201d (sound engineer Gatis Gaujenieks), group members Baiba Indr\u0113vica, Dina Liepa, Laumai Garkalne, Imanta N\u012bgale, Vineta Rom\u0101ne, Kaspars Indr\u0113vics and Gatis Gaujenieks, and guest musicians in the song \u201cEs piedzimu pie m\u0101mi\u0146as\u201d \u2013 Ilga Reizniece and children of \u201cLaiksnes\u201d Elizabete Milti\u0146a and Juma Gaujeniece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group \u201cLaiksne\u201d has been active in the Latvian folklore scene since 1993 and has collected a wide range of traditional music material – from seasonal celebration songs to folkdance melodies, by playing mainly contemporary interpreted folkmusic. Until now the group has released five albums which are dedicated to different themes – the life of women (Kyukova dzagyuze (2001) and Es jauna b\u016bdama (2003), the summer solstice J\u0101\u0146i (J\u0101\u0146u nakti zelta rasa), Christmas time – Es \u010dig\u0101na meita biju (2013) and social gathering songs – Putra (2010)).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album cover uses a painting “Night dropplets” by Laura P\u012bgozne. Album design M\u0101rti\u0146\u0161 Plotka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album was supported by Valsts Kult\u016brkapit\u0101la fonds, Kult\u016bras centrs I\u013c\u0123uciems and R\u012bgas domes Izgl\u012bt\u012bbas, kult\u016bras un sporta departaments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
