This album includes wedding and marriage songs from all regions of Latvia. The songs describe the different, sometimes very ancient rituals of a marriage, like stealing the bride from her parent’s home, or negotiating a price for the future wife. But the most beautiful songs are about the individual feelings, when a young man sets off to find his future wife or the feelings of the bride ready to become a wife, about leaving her parents home and going to a foreign place. There are also some mythological songs, as the connection to the sacred world is particularly inportant at turning points in life.
