This musical group emerged out of a well-known Latvian rock group „Dzelzs Vilks“, whose musicians found interest in Latvian folk-music and wanted to interpret folk-songs their own way. The “Jauno Jāņu orķestris” has enjoyed growing popularity and is now frequently performing in different festivals not least due to the fact that all things “ethno” are experiencing a contemporary revival particularly among young people nowadays in Latvia.
